Lead Engineer 

Luxe Smart Homes are looking for a Lead Engineer to join us on our quest to be recognised as the premier choice for Home Technology consultancy and installation in the prime residential market in Surrey and the surrounding Home Counties.

Due to the company’s continuing growth, we are looking to recruit a candidate that excels in all areas of site delivery with a strong focus on the commissioning phase of any given project. 

This is a superb opportunity for an engineer with passion for Home Automation and Home Cinema to join Control4’s fastest growing Audio-Visual Integrator in the South of England, working in some of the finest properties in the country.

This role is perfect for an individual with a proven track record of working in the super prime residential sector. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable skills in commissioning of Home Automation systems, boundless energy and enthusiasm when faced with technical issues, be a problem solver with a ‘can-do’ attitude, exceptionally strong with their hand tools and treat their place of work with the utmost care and respect. The nature of this role leans towards someone who has ambition to move into a project management role in the future.


The Position:

  • Leading the onsite team in the delivery of our Home Automation, Home Cinema, Lighting/Heating/Security and Audio-Visual systems.

  • Commissioning all the aforementioned systems including rigorous testing and making adjustments the clients require upon installation.

  • Coordinating and providing training to our clients for the systems we have installed.

  • Managing the team or associated contractors to ensure all cables have been terminated and tested before final fix installation.

  • Ensuring all documentation is complete upon completion and remote management tools have been addressed and labelled accurately. 

  • Supervising, training, and assisting where necessary, all junior members of staff on any tasks that that require refinement to meet our high standards.

  • Coordinating activities with general contractors, construction managers, associated professionals such as Architects/Interior Designers and clients.

  • Delivering a high level of professional service to all parties on site and ensuring all team members follow your lead.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Control4 Automation Programmer Certification. 

  • Lutron Homeworks QS Programmer Certification.

  • City & Guilds Levels 2&3 Electrotechnical Installation Certification or equivalent 

  • ECS Card 

  • Minimum 5 year’s experience in a Home Automation, Audio Visual or Home Cinema role. 

  • Experience in high-end residential sector required. 

  • CEDIA ESC-N, Pakedge PCNA or ProNet Integrator. 

Required Knowledge & Skills 

  • Passionate about a career in Smart Home Installations and enthusiastic about technology. 

  • Highly professional and demonstrate an excellent work ethic and ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Highly experienced across first and second fix stages of cabling. 

  • Clean Driving Licence. 

  • Excellent fault-finding skills and able to keep calm under pressure.

  • Proficient in Control4 and Lutron programming software.

  • Experienced with equipment from Control4, Lutron, Draytek, Ruckus, Lilin, Heatmiser, Sony, Anthem, Denon and Cleerline.

  • Strong command over power and hand tools and eye for detail.

  • Confident understanding of wiring schematics, plans and drawings.

  • Excellent communication skills and timekeeper.

  • Respectful of Health and Safety at all times.

  • Computer literate and proficient in the Microsoft Office and Gmail.

  • Lives locally to our base in Cobham, Surrey.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 8am till 4pm (time may vary and staff are occasionally required to work out of office hours) 

Location: The Luxe Smart Homes office is based in Cobham, Surrey but this role will be mainly on sites in Surrey, Berkshire and occasionally London. 

Salary: £40k – 50k depending on experience.
