A Discreet Approach to TVs in Luxury Interiors
“When it comes to integrating technology into beautifully designed homes, the details matter.
A television is often one of the largest visual elements in a room. In thoughtfully designed interiors, the intention is for it to feel discreet and completely at home within the space.
At Luxe Smart Homes, one of our preferred approaches is to recess the TV into a purpose-built wall box or joinery cavity, creating a flush finish with a discreet shadow gap. This allows the TV to blend seamlessly into the design, maintaining the elegance of the space.
Why we recess TVs:
Recessing the screen offers several advantages in high-end spaces:
Architectural finish. The TV sits as part of the wall or joinery, not on it.
Minimal visual impact. Tiny shadow gaps keep the look refined.
Hidden technology. Equipment and cabling can be concealed behind.
Future access. Serviceable mounting solutions maintain practicality.
Canary Wharf, integrated joinery with dual-aspect viewing
In this Canary Wharf apartment, the television is fully recessed within bespoke dark timber joinery, allowing it to sit almost flush with the cabinetry face. The fine shadow gap detailing keeps the installation visually light, despite the scale of the screen.
Using Future Automation brackets, the screen can be pulled out for perfect viewing from both the living and dining areas. Behind the screen, we concealed cabling and equipment within the recess, maintaining the clean external appearance while ensuring full service access.
Hyde Park, recessed TV within architectural wall
In this Hyde Park apartment, the television is recessed into a bespoke timber wall with integrated shelving. The screen sits precisely within the panelling lines, creating an architectural frame that aligns with the surrounding joinery geometry.
This allows the TV to read as part of the wall composition rather than an applied object, maintaining the calm, gallery-like quality of the space. The recess also provides a discreet zone for cabling and mounting, keeping all technical elements hidden from view.
Surrey, concealed TV within sliding joinery
In this Surrey sitting room, the television is integrated into classic painted joinery, with a bespoke sliding door allowing the screen to be completely hidden when not in use.
When closed, the cabinetry reads as a continuous wall of storage, with the technology entirely absent from view. When open, the TV sits neatly recessed within the cabinet, framed by the joinery and aligned with the surrounding panel details.
This approach is ideal in rooms where the primary function is relaxation or entertaining, and the television should remain secondary to the interior architecture.
Designed around each interior
There is no single best way to integrate a television, only the right solution for the architecture, joinery and how the room will be used.
From flush shadow-gap detailing to concealed joinery panels, each Luxe Smart Homes installation is carefully considered in collaboration with the wider interior team to ensure the technology enhances, rather than interrupts, the design vision.
